Katsina Governor Reveals Why Bandits Killed 30

2 Min Read
Masari

Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari said that armed bandits killed 30 persons in Tsauwa and Dankar villages in Batsari LGA in a reprisal attack.

He said that the security report at his disposal indicated that the killing of two Fulani herdsmen in the settlements caused Friday’s revenge attack which led to the death of 30 persons as well as burning of houses, animals and foodstuffs.

Masari disclosed this in Malumfashi council area during the disbursement of empowerment packages by the senator representing Katsina South in the Senate, Bello Mandiya.

However, the governor vehemently condemned the attack, which he described as the worst in the last seven months in the state.

He also warned the local population against attacking nomadic herdsmen to prevent a recurrence of the incident, which he further described as “unfortunate”.

Meanwhile, Masari, while visiting the affected communities on Monday, urged the villagers to consider the incident as an act of God and assured them that the government had taken necessary steps to prevent a reoccurrence.

The governor directed that foodstuffs be provided to the residents and boreholes be drilled there to tackle potable water shortage in the communities.

He also pledged to construct a school in the area, adding that the state government would come to the aid of all communities attacked by bandits.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari also condemned the attack.

The president, who dispersed his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari on condolence visit to Katsina, warned against revenge attacks.
