2 Min Read

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board, Prof. Fatima Umar, has disclosed that the State Government has approved N500 million for payment of outstanding scholarship to 1, 550 students studying in 11 foreign institutions.

Professor Fatima Umar disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.

She said the state government has also given an approval for settling the allowances of 91, 000 students currently studying in tertiary institutions in the country.

The executive secretary said the gesture was part of the government’s resolve to provide scholarship to Kano indigenes pursuing academic courses at home and abroad.

According to her, the present administration is committed to funding the professional courses of 108 Kano state indigenes currently pursuing professional courses at the Nigeria Law School.

In addition the state government will also settle the expenses of 1,000 Kano state indigenes studying at various private Universities across the country.

The health sector will also benefit from the training given to 50 nurses who are being trained as tutors in an Egyptian Medical Institution, she said.

She said the state government had chosen to remain committed to the welfare of the people despite the prevailing economic situation in the country.

She called on students to reciprocate the gesture by concentrating on their studies and make the state proud, as one day they will be the ones controlling the state affairs.
