Kano State Government is seeking seven days extension from the Independent Electoral Commission for the Continuous Voters Registration in certain areas where prospective voters have not been able to register.
The state government also threatened to sue INEC over the distribution of Permanent Voters Cards because some eligible voters were not issued their PVCs.
While briefing journalists, the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said “more than 1,872 out of 8,072 polling centres were not active during the exercise. We note inefficient computers and absolute facilities. Some of the ad hoc staff were not even computer literate. INEC did not even have adequate transportation for their staff.”
He also said the government would not hesitate to take legal action if INEC ignores the state’s requests.
