Pandemonium as police allegedly kill 2 friends in Kano

The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested a policeman who shot a man, Abubakar Isah, and stabbed another, Ibrahim Suleiman, to death in Sharada Phase One in Kano Municipal Area.

Two witnesses quoted by HumAngle said the policeman attached to the Anti-Daba Unit of the command shot Isah aka Banupe and stabbed Suleiman aka Mainasara about 11 pm on Saturday during a search for a suspect at an Indomie spot.

The suspect identified simply as Gadaffi was said to be the younger brother of the Indomie spot owner called Idi ‘Mai Shayi’(Tea Maker).

The two victims were said to be at the shop to buy Indomie when the incident occurred.

According to one of the witnesses, the policeman forcefully dragged Suleiman out of the shop before stabbing him.

The police then shot Isah, leading to pandemonium in the area, the witness identified as Abubakar Yahaya said.

He disclosed that youths in the area rushed the two victims to the Murtala Muhammad General Hospital at about 2 am where they were pronounced dead.

Another witness identified as Abdulkadir Shehu Adamu confirmed seen the lifeless bodies of two men on the ground at the scene of the incident.

The suspect and Anti-Daba Unit team drove off in their patrol vehicle, he said.

HumAngle quoted Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, as saying that the suspect has been arrested.

The incident occurred a month after millions of Nigerian youths protested against police brutality across the country.

The #EndSARS protests reverberated around the world.
