The Kano State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has Tuesday submitted its report on the 2015 hajj operation to the state government.
The Executive Secretary of the board, Mallam Abba Yakubu, said apart from the Mena stampede tragedy that occurred during the hajj exercise in which Nigeria lost more than 200 persons, the hajj operation was successful.
He added that Kano pilgrims displayed good behaviour that earned the state an award of excellence in the holy land.
However, Yakubu said the board was keeping in touch with Saudi authorities over two missing pilgrims from the state whose whereabouts were yet to be ascertained up to the time of submitting the report.
In the same vein, Yakubu added that preparation for the upcoming hajj exercise would commence in earnest.
Receiving the report, the Deputy Governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, commended the board for the successful hajj operation and gave the go ahead for the board to commence preparations for the 2016 hajj exercise.
He gave the assurance that the state government would do whatever it takes to make the hajj operation more successful in succeeding years.
