The Kano State Transport Authority Kano Line established decades ago, is on the path of regeneration, Managing Director of the company, Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar has said.
Speaking to The HERALD recently, Abubakar said the company has for the first time established sub-stations at each of the exits of the state capital that include Katsina exit, Zamfara exit, Maiduguri Road and Hadejia Road exits.
This according to him became quite possible as a result of the full support they are receiving from Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the state commissioner of works and housing, Alhaji Haruna Shehu Lambu.
The managing director, popularly called Bullet, said though the company has no statutory overhead allocation, he has refurbished quite a number of hitherto grounded buses and acquired brand new ones from sales of tickets, being the only source of income for the company.
He went on that to enhance staff productivity, his administration introduced training and retraining of both junior and senior staff of the organisation by the Vehicle Inspection (VIO) office, the Federal Road Safety Commission and consultants, adding that this is also in a bid to make especially drivers of the company adhere to the rules and regulations governing road usage.
Bullet also said to boost staff morale he ensures prompt payment of staff entitlements from the meagre income of the company, urging them to keep on the cooperation and dedication to work they have been exhibiting since he came on board six months ago.
He then called on individuals and organisations to patronise the company more, promising that they have already mapped out strategies towards making the organisation much more responsive to the needs of its customers in the incoming year.
