The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s second term bid suffered a set back on Wednesday when his Senior Special Assistant on Urban Beautification, Alhaji Hashim Suleiman, tendered his resignation.
The governor’s aide submitted his resignation letter dated March 13, 2019 to the Secretary to the State Government.
Suleiman said he resigned his position over his boss’s alleged refusal to concede defeat to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf, after the March 9 gubernatorial election in the state.
He declared that Abba won the election but it was deliberately declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in controversial circumstances.
According to him, Ganduje failed to use the opportunity as a transparent Khadimul-Islam (the Custodian of Islam) to concede defeat and set a precedent to other Muslims, who serve Allah in truth and sincerity.
”I write to formally inform you of my voluntary resignation from the office of SSA, Beautification. I thank you for offering me the opportunity to serve under your administration as SSA,” Suleiman said.
