Kano Emir sacks Governor’s younger brother from power

2 Min Read

Kano Emirate Council has announced the immediate removal of Sani Umar Ganduje, the younger brother of the Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as the Village Head of Ganduje.

Announcing the removal at a special palace sitting in Kano, the emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II said the removal of the Village Head was as a result of his gross negligence to duty which the emirate council found disturbing, noting that it was an offence for one to smear the good image of the traditional institution and the respect of good people of Kano state.

According to the monarch, the Village Head was stripped of his turban as his offence bordered on gross official misconduct which the place was all out to jettison for the sake of safeguarding the credibility of the revered monarchy in Kano. The Emir also stressed that it is an abiding obligation on the shoulders of every traditional ruler to exhibit a modicum of good conduct so he will serve as a lesson to others.

He called on all traditional rulers in Kano Emirate Council to be disciplined and shun any act of negligence and gross official misconduct.

He went on to stress that with discipline and absolute commitment to duty nothing could ever stand in the wheel of the Kano Emirate Council to maintain its adored status.

It was learnt on good authority that the embattled Ganduje younger brother was allegedly enmeshed in series of unwholesome practices, such as seizure of land of  which had prompted his subjects to
report him to the Emir.

The Emir of Kano urged all the traditional rulers to work hard in good faith saying “if anyone is found guilty of any offence nothing will stop me as Muhammad Sanusi II, I will make sure we remove him from power because emirate council is a respected place and law abiding house, not an outlaw community.”
