Former Kano State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Muazu Magaji has been discharged after recovering from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

He took to Facebook on Friday to break the news.

“To the Glory of Allah SWT, today Friday 22nd May and 29th Ramadan I have been confirmed COVID-19 negative and discharged from isolation centre,” he wrote.

The ex-commissioner tested positive for the deadly virus on Thursday, May 7.

Recall that Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje sacked Magaji in April for allegedly gloating over the death of immediate-past Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari in some comments on Facebook.

Kyari died of COVID-19-related complications in Lagos on Friday, April 17 and was buried according to Islamic rites in Abuja on Saturday, April 18.

Magaji in one of his controversial comments described the late Kyari as “domineering”.

In the statement announcing his sack, Kano State’s Commissioner for Information, Malam Mohammed Garba said, “The action of a public servant, personal or otherwise reflects back on the government and therefore, the Ganduje administration would not tolerate people in official capacities engaging in personal vendetta or otherwise.”
