Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane must have given a sigh of relief after getting a chance to end his goal drought that made critics to start referring to his fine form last season as a fluke.
The England forward not only scored but did it in style, netting a hat-trick, as Spurs brushed aside Premier League newcomers AFC Bournemouth in a 5-1 trouncing.
Harry Kane had gone on a 13-game scoreless streak, just as Spurs have gone on a four-match winless streak, in all competitions and visible signs of pressure were already showing on coach Mauricio Pochettino, who was short of attacking options having seen to the end of Togolese forward Emmanuel Adebayour’s career at the club.
Spurs woes appeared to have been compounded inside the first minute when Matt Richie put the home team ahead, but Kane drew level in the 9th minute from the penalty spot.
Moussa Dembele doubled the lead in the 17th minute for Spurs as Erik Lamela, who was also magnificent in midfield throughout the game, made it 3-1 in the thirtieth minute.
Two more goals from Kane in the 56th and 64th minutes sealed Spurs biggest win of the season and took them to sixth on the league table, 2 points behind 5th place Leicester City.
