Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has come out in support of singer Davido’s recent comments on the state of the Nigerian economy. Davido had stated that the economy is “in shambles” during an appearance on a US podcast, advising Black Americans against relocating to Nigeria.
Kanayo defended Davido’s right to free speech, stating that the singer’s comments were made in good faith to speak for poor Nigerians amid the country’s economic hardship. The actor emphasized that those in power should work harder to improve the economy, rather than criticizing Davido for his comments.
Kanayo also noted that Davido’s wealth and success do not shield him from the reality of Nigeria’s economic challenges, and that his comments should be respected as a reflection of the experiences of many Nigerians.
