Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted some staff and students of Government Science College, Kagara, in Niger State, on Wednesday morning.
It was learnt that the attackers first overpowered the security guards on duty before storming the staff quarters and later proceeding to the student hostels.
One student was killed in the attack that occurred at 2 am, a source within the vicinity disclosed.
The school is said to have more than 1,000 students.
An alumnus of the school, Senator Shehu Sani wrote on Twitter, “Early hours of this morning, armed bandits stormed the Government Science College Kagara Niger State, my alma mata ,a nd abducted some students and staff family members.
“I just spoke to the principal. This is the clip of one of my past visit to the School.”

Meanwhile, a staff identified as Batagi, who was abducted by the assailants, escaped and has reportedly returned to the school.
Headcount is said to be ongoing.
