Influential Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi said his Thursday visit to the camp of the abductors of Kagara schoolchildren yielded “positive” results.
He stated this while addressing reporters shortly after briefing Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello on the outcome of his visit on Friday.
Recall that photos of Gumi meeting with the bandits on Thursday went viral on social media on Friday morning.
On the outcome of the meeting, the respected cleric told journalists: “The outcome is very positive because if you have warring factions and each faction says that I have complaints and grievances which are very simple, I think there is hope.”

The state governor had disclosed that 42 students, staff and family were abducted from the Government Science College, Kagara in Rafi local government area of Niger State early Wednesday.
One student was reported killed by the assailants.
