The Niger State Government says the Federal Government has abandoned the state as it battles to secure the release of the 27 students and 15 staff of Government Science College (GSC), Kagara abducted last Wednesday.
Speaking on Thursday, the state governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello said that the state did not “feel any Federal (Government) presence”.
The governor spoke while receiving Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu who visited to commiserate with the state over the kidnapping.

“At the moment, we do not feel any Federal presence here. The Inspector-General of Police sent us four mobile units but we are to shoulder the financial responsibilities. So, where is the support? There is no support from anyone.
“Yes, we had a delegation that came to visit and commiserate with us but that was all. So, we are left to ourselves,” Sani-Bello said.
His comment came the same day that President Muhammadu Buhari said that his administration would not negotiate with nor grant amnesty to insurgents and bandits, vowing that they would be dealt with decisively.
The Herald earlier reported that the bandits that kidnapped the Kagara victims have already rejected N2.7 million ransom offered by the school for the release of the students.
Governor Sani-Bello however promised the staff and parents of the school of the safe return of all the victims.
“We have already made a commitment that we will bring back the children safely with or without anyone,” the governor stated.
