Kaduna Preaching Bill: Be Ready To Jail 5000 Pastors, PFN Tells El-Rufai

2 Min Read

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has sworn to rather obey God than be confined by the preaching bill currently before the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

The Church body through the State Chairman, Prof. Femi Ehinmidu while speaking at a Stakeholders’ roundtable conference in Kaduna added that the Kaduna State Government should be prepared to jail 5,000 of its pastors when the preaching bill was passed into law.

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai explained that the preaching bill was not aimed at banning the existence of Evangelism, urging religious leaders to not politicise the bill which is still set before the State’s Assembly.

The Kaduna State Governor added that the bill was aimed at curbing extremism and maintained that the bill was born out of the government’s concern for security of lives and property.

El-Rufai speaking at the Roundtable Forum tagged “Kaduna State Religious Preaching Regulation Bill: Intention and Perception” through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, said the bill was not initiated to challenge the views of the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Jama’atul Nasril Islam and other critical stakeholders who will be affected by the bill when passed.

He explained further that the bill, when passed into law, will afford the major Stakeholders the opportunity to check strange ideological beliefs that are not in line with Christianity and Islam.
