Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai

Bandits locked 16 members of the same family in a house and set it on fire, killing all of them in the process in a Kaduna village.

The bandits numbering over 100 reportedly besieged Bakali village in Fatika District, Giwa LGA, sending villagers scampering for safety.

The bandits were said to have invaded the community at 4:00 pm on Tuesday and set fire on many bags of grains, vehicles, and motorcycles.

Daily Trust quoted a villager, Alhaji Sani Bakali, as saying that the unexpected invasion caused great harm to the village.

The motive for the attack remains unknown.

The state police command has yet to confirm the incident.

The invasion occurred the same day an 18-year-old seminarian, Michael Nnadi, who was abducted from his seminary on January 8 and murdered by unknown gunmen in Kaduna, was buried.

Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, who delivered an emotional homily during the funeral mass, lambasted the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government for failing to secure the lives and properties Nigerians.
