Multiple award-winning musician, Bukola Elemide aka Asa has weighed in on the shooting by police of a 16-year-old girl, Tina Ezekwe in Lagos.

Tina was shot by a policeman at Iyana-Oworo Berger bus-stop in Lagos on Tuesday and was rushed to a hospital where she eventually died on Thursday evening.

Her shooting and death spun off a Twitter hashtag #JusticeforTina which trended throughout Friday and Saturday.

Weighing in on the matter, Asa tweeted a photo of the young girl with the words “Tina is all of us! #JusticeforTina”.

She captioned the photo: “Nigerian police killed Tina.”

OworoTV shared a video of a female victim, who turns out to be the late teenager, in a pool of her own blood after the police shooting.

The video sparked off a social media storm, bringing into focus Nigeria Police Force’s long history of extrajudicial killings by trigger-happy policemen.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command said it has arrested two policemen, ASP Theophilus Otobo and Inspector Oguntoba Olamigoke attached to Bariga Police Station, in connection with the shooting.

According to a police statement, the suspects “fired shots from their pin down point along Berger by third mainland bridge, in circumstances yet to be determined”.

One other person, Musa Yakubu, was said to have been shot too. Yakubu, a 35-year-old male is “in stable condition”, the police said.

The command promised to ensure the perpetrators of the “dastardly act” face justice.
