The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) have suspended their strike.
The two groups had carried out a strike action that had lasted for a while and was said to potentially lead to the worst fuel scarcity the nation has ever faced, but now after a couple of meetings with the Federal Government, they seem to have stepped back.
They had earlier hinted that they were ready to lay down their arms and go back to work but were interested in meeting the Minister for Labour Chris Ngige before coming to a final decision.
That meeting has been held and it seems it ended on a positive note as they have now called off the strike.
