2 Min Read

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Amuwo-Odofin LGA of Lagos State, Samuel Kayode aka Ekpo Kinkin, has been shot dead.

It was learnt that Ekpo Kinkin, who doubles as Vice-Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the area, was shot dead in the Agboju area during an APC event on Thursday evening.

It was learnt that the event was the party’s local government election campaign at Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

According to witnesses, the event was going on inside the Oriade LCDA Secretariat Hall when a gunshot suddenly rang out just outside the premises.

This was said to have caused those inside the secretariat to rush out to confirm what happened, only to find Ekpo Kinkin in a pool of blood.

A witness said that the NURTW boss was found with a bullet wound to his leg and everyone took to their heels.

However, when the victim was rushed to Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Navy Town, Ojo, a doctor on duty confirmed him dead, it was learnt.

“Ekpo Kinkin was a very popular person in this area. He was shot, right in Oriade LCDA secretariat, close to Agboju police station.

“During the stampede caused by the gunshot, a man suspected to have pulled the trigger, was said to have been seen walking casually out of the premises.

“We have lodged a complaint to the Police. We hope they will fish out Ekpo’s killer,” Vanguard quoted a party chieftain as saying.
