Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has declared his intention to run for the presidency in 2023.
The governor made the declaration while addressing State House correspondents after a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa, Abuja.
His visit to the Presidential Villa came barely a day after a similar one by National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu told reporters after the meeting that he had informed the president of his intention to run and the president did not object.
Umahi said that after he broached the matter to Buhari, the president told him to go and seek the people’s support.
He added that Tinubu’s presence would not deter him, noting that the 2023 election would not be by might.
