Suspected assassins have shot dead an Anambra ex-lawmaker and President General of Nimo Town Union, Anambra State, Chief Anthony Frank Igboka.

According to Daily Sun, the gunmen attacked the businessman at Nimo’s Oye Market in Njikoka local government area on Tuesday night.

Igboka was a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly (1999 – 2003) and had been engaged in private business ever since.

Before the incident, the ex-lawmaker reportedly emerged from a nearby restaurant within the community market and entered his car before the gunmen swooped on him and started shooting.

The Anambra Police Command’s spokesman, Haruna Muhammed, confirmed the incident, saying a police team recovered 25 expended ammunition of 7.62mm from the crime scene.

Igboka was said to have escaped two previous assassination attempts and a kidnapping.
