An outbreak of Lassa Fever in Katsina State has claimed the life of a pregnant woman whose identity is undisclosed.
The State’s Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Agency, Shamsudeen Yahaya, confirmed this while addressing a press conference on the outbreak in the state on Wednesday.
Yahaya said during an update on the epidemic in his office, seven samples were collected out of which four reported negative, one is still pending for confirmation and two returned positive
According to him, “the pregnant woman died on Sunday, while the other is alive and responding to treatment; there were plans to take the one that is alive to an isolation center in Katsina. “The pregnant woman was vomiting, bleeding and the pregnancy was aborted just before she died.”
