The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Monday paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Though the reason for the visit has yet to be established, it is believed to be in connection with the controversial Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 signed into law by the president on August 7.
Christian leaders have vehemently criticised the new law, especially Section 839 (1) and (2) which empowers the supervising minister “to suspend trustees of an association (in this case, the church) and appoint the interim managers to manage the affairs of the association for some given reasons.”
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) described the new law as “satanic”.
Adeboye had also recently advised the government to include religious leaders in COVID-19 committees to cover the spiritual dimension of the fight against the pandemic.
