London rivals, Chelsea and Arsenal played out a 2-2 draw in a mesmerising encounter at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
A 28-minute Jorginho penalty had put the hosts in front after Arsenal’s defender David Luiz crashed into Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham and was shown a straight red card for the 26th-minute, last-man challenge.
Although Chelsea dominated the game in the first half, a spirited Arsenal pulled one back through a Gabriel Martinelli solo effort in the 63rd minute.
Chelsea captain, Cesar Azpilicueta, however, restored the hosts’ lead in the 84th minute following unconvincing defensive work from Mikel Arteta’s side.
But the visitors restored parity three minutes later with Hector Bellerin slotting home the equaliser.
The draw keeps Chelsea on 40 points after 24 games and fourth on the league table, while Arsenal have 30 points from the same number of games as Frank Lampard’s side and are rooted to the 10th spot on the log.
