The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has called for a state of emergency in Northern Nigeria over worsening insecurity in the region.
Matawalle, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made the called on Wednesday at the Government House, Gusau.
The governor’s call came during a meeting with an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Ali Janga.
Recall that Aminu Masari, also an APC chieftain and Governor of President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state of Katsina, recently called on residents to procure arms and defend themselves against bandits ravaging the state.
