Ahmed Gulak, Political Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has been shot dead in Owerri, Imo State.
He was said to be returning to Abuja from the Imo State capital when unknown gunmen ambushed him on his way to the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo airport.
It was learnt that the ex-presidential aide’s motorcade was attacked at Obiagwa, close to the airport.
Gulak was inside a Toyota Camry vehicle marked Texas BFT 2150 at the time of the attack, The Herald learnt.
Confirming the incident, Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro said, “It is true but the details are sketchy. I am on the way to the airport.”
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gulak led the committee that conducted the primaries for Imo governorship election in 2018.
