JUST IN: INEC reacts to report of filled result sheets in Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is investigating reports that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.

The electoral umpire disclosed this in a statement shared on its X page on Saturday morning.

In a video shared on X, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) raised the alarm over electoral malpractice in Ogori/Magongo local government area of the state.

He also shared a post showing a filled result sheet from a polling unit in Okehi local government of the state.

Melaye urged residents of the state to defend their votes to prevent malpractices.

Reacting to the reports, INEC said, “Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.

“The Commission views this situation seriously.

“Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly.”
