Unknown gunmen early Thursday morning attacked Mbieri Divisional Police Headquarters in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, freeing an unconfirmed number of detainees and kidnapping a policeman.
The attack is the sixth on a police divisional headquarters in Imo State in the last two months.
The previous attacks were recorded in Obowo, Aboh Mbaise, Ihitte/ Uboma, Isiala Mbano and the Ehime Mbano Divisional Police Headquarters.
Recall that the Imo State Police Command headquarters was attacked and set ablaze on Monday while the Ehime Mbano Divisional Police Headquarters was similarly attacked on Tuesday.
Also on Monday, the Owerri Correctional Centre was attacked, with the assailants freeing 1844 inmates.

It was learnt that the latest incident occurred around 1 am on Thursday.
It was further learnt that the gunmen did not set the police facility ablaze as done during similar attacks in recent days.
However, like the previous attacks, detainees at the police facility were set free.
A police source quoted by The Punch disclosed that the policemen on duty put up a resistance but were overpowered.
The police source further disclosed that the assailants took away all the phones of the detainees and the policemen and also vandalised the police facility.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Imo, Orlando Ikeokwu confirmed the development.
He said that one policeman was missing and two others were injured in the process of resisting the attackers.
He added that an investigation into the incident has already commenced.
