The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday produced former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele in court for his bail application hearing.
The development followed a November 2 ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja mandating the EFCC to produce the embattled ex-central banker in court on Monday, November 6, or release him.
EFCC failed to comply with the order issued by Justice Olukayode Adeniyi when the matter came up for hearing on Monday.
EFCC lawyer, Farouk Abdallah, while confirming that the anti-graft agency received the court order, denied that Emefiele had been in its custody for over 100 days.
Frowning at the disobedience of its order, Justice Adeniyi restated the order before adjourning proceedings till Wednesday.
EFCC finally complied with the order on Wednesday when Emefiele was led into the court by heavily-armed operatives.
