Former presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), Bashir Tofa is dead.
Tofa contested against Bashorun MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 1993 presidential election.
Tofa died aged 74 at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in the early hours of Monday after a brief illness, family sources said.

The Herald learnt that the politician was at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital for days with a protracted illness and had been recovering before eventually succumbing to the illness.
