The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its nationwide strike after three months.
The National President of the union, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Nigeria Labour Congress complex in Abuja.
The lecturers decided to shelve the industrial action after a meeting with representatives of the Federal Government led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.
The meeting had in attendance leaders of the union and government representatives including the permanent secretary and directors at the ministries of Education, and Labour and Employment.
Ogunyemi added that lecturers are expected to resume on Friday, February 8, 2019.
