Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Philip Shekwor.
Reports say Shekwor was kidnapped Saturday night at his residence located along Dunamis Church, Bukan Sidi in Lafia.
The Nation quoted the Police Commissioner in the state, Bola Longe as confirming the incident on Sunday morning.
Longe was quoted as saying that the gunmen in large numbers kidnapped the APC chairman around 11 pm at his residence before whisking him away to an undisclosed destination.
He added that security personnel have been deployed to comb nearby forests in a bid to rescue the APC chairman.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said that security agents engaged the gunmen in a fierce gun battle before they could take the party boss away.

The assailants have yet to contact the victim’s family as of Sunday morning.
