Leader of Yoruba sociocultural organisation, Egbe Afenifere, Pa Ayo Fasanmi has died.
He died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday night at Oshogbo, Osun State aged 94.
His son, Afolabi disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
A trained pharmacist, Fasanmi was a senator in the Second Republic on the platform of Obafemi Awolowo’s Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN).
He contested the Ondo State gubernatorial ticket of the party and lost to Adekunle Ajasin, who eventually emerged governor.
Before his demise, he was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
