The 27 abducted students of Government Science College (GSC), Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have regained their freedom.
The Herald learnt that the students, as well as 3 staff and 12 members of their family, were freed by their captors on Saturday morning.
Senator for Kaduna Central in the Eight Senate and alumnus of GSC, Senator Shehu Sani confirmed the development, quoting the principal of the school.
“I spoke with the Principal of GSC Kagara who confirmed the release of the abducted Students,” Sani wrote on Twitter.

The Punch also quoted a top military source in the state as confirming the development.
Gunmen, who donned military fatigues, abducted the 42 persons from the school in the wee hours of Wednesday, February 17.
Popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi met the abductors in their hideout in the forest a day later, but it was not immediately clear the impact the cleric’s visit had on the release of the victims.
