The judges of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Adeniyi Ademola and Nnamdi Dimgba, who were accused of professional misconduct by the Department of State Security, resumed sitting at their various courts on Monday.
Ademola, commenting on the raid said he was being victimized in respect of an old score he has with the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
He alleged that the raid on his home and his arrest by the DSS were meant to punish him for rulings he had given in favour of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
The SSS had raided and arrested seven judges across the nation last week after petitions bothering on allegations of fraud were made against them.
The security service alleged that it recovered tens of thousands of dollars and millions of naira from the residence of these judges, adding it had enough evidence to prosecute the judges for corruption.
The NJC, after two meetings deliberating on the raid, came out to condemn the actions of the DSS saying it was against the rule of law, and that the council never shielded any judicial officer who has committed any misconduct, as claimed by the DSS.
The Nigerian Attorney General Malami, has however supported the raid and said the SSS was merely discharging its constitutional function of investigation, adding that corruption is a threat to the security of any nation.
