There is jubilation at the home of presidential candidate and National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, after the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Kano, Abba Yusuf, was declared governor-elect.
The Miller Road residence of Kwankwaso witnessed a deluge of party supporters who chanted hysterically at the news.
State Returning Officer, Prof. Doko Ibrahim, the Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, declared Yusuf as the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election in the state.
He said the NNPP candidate polled 1,019,602 votes to clinch the seat.

The returning officer said Yusuf defeated his closest rival and incumbent Deputy Governor Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who scored 892,705 votes.
“That I, Prof. Doko Ibrahim, declared that the election was contested by 18 candidates. Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, Abba Kabiru Yusuf of the NNPP is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” Ibrahim said.
