Juan Mata is ‘too good’ to be sitting on the bench for Manchester United and could look for a move if it continues according to Sky sports pundit Jamie Redknapp.
The player cost £37 million in January and found himself a substitute for the Red Devils last two matches.
He stepped off the bench and scored the winning goal in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend during a 27 minute cameo in the same period.
In his Daily Mail column, Redknapp says that having previously found himself unwanted by Chelsea,he may want to head somewhere where he’ll start regularly, rather than to remain as a bit-part player at Old Trafford.
“There is no doubting his quality — this is a player with a World Cup and European Championship to his name,” said Redknapp. “But he found himself surplus to requirements at Chelsea and now seems to be in a similar position at Manchester United.
“You have to credit him because he never causes a fuss or has a bad word to say. But make no mistake. He wants to play football.
“He is too good to be a super sub at United and if he doesn’t get some more action, I could see him moving on or maybe even back to Spain.”
