Diego Costa escaped a possible three-match ban as Chelsea were held to a draw at Sunderland.
But the Chelsea striker will still be suspended for this week’s clash with Spurs after picking up his fifth premier League booking of the season.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says he can live without his star striker and insists he does not want him to change his style of play.
The Spain striker is suspended for Spurs’ visit to White Hart Lane on Wednesday after he was cautioned for an elbow on veteran defender Wes Brown.
Mourinho said: “I was told he was unlucky to get a yellow card. I don’t know, I don’t know.
“We don’t cry about injured or suspended players. He is suspended so he can rest and be ready for Newcastle at the weekend.
“We will use Remy and Drogba against Tottenham. They will have the opportunity to start the game.”
