A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has warned Christians against going to church with the expectation of securing prosperity from God.
The US-pastor made this known in a social media post titled “Go To God For Salvation. Go To Work For Prosperity” on Wednesday, noting that the church of God remains a place for seeking salvation rather than prosperity.
According to the former Special Assistant to the President on New Media, prosperity comes by “smart” work rather than from prayer as is presently believed by many.
He added that like God, Satan could also give prosperity but, unlike God, cannot give salvation.
He said, “If people who don’t go to church or mosque are becoming billionaires, why are you still going to church and mosque to pray to God to make you wealthy? There is a difference between salvation and prosperity. You go to God for salvation. You go to work for prosperity. Be suspicious of any religion whose end result is prosperity. Because satan can give you prosperity. But only God can give you salvation. If you want to prosper, go and work smart and God will bless your work.”
Quoting from Deuteronomy 28:12, Omokri said that God promised to “bless the work of our hands”.
