Former Special Assistant on New Media to President Jonathan, Reno Omokri has advised outgoing Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose against leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Fayose had on Monday threatened to leave the party following the failure of his preferred candidate, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, to clinch the presidential ticket of the party at the National Convention held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State over the weekend.
He had also accused some unnamed persons of hijacking the machinery of the party after himself and a few others like Nyesom Wike struggled to keep it alive.
But Omokri, who took to his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday evening, urged Fayose not to abandon the party.
He said that there was no need for Fayose to leave the PDP as his preferred candidate had congratulated and promised to work with the eventual winner, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Omokri said, “Dear Governor Ayo Fayose, I know how you feel, but don’t leave Peoples Democratic Party because Alhaji Atiku Abubakar defeated Tambuwal.

“Tambuwal, who you supported, has himself congratulated Atiku, describing his emergence as ‘transparent’ and agreed to work with him. Please remain with PDP.”

Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode also urged Fayose to remain within the party.
Also taking to his verified Twitter handle, Fani-Kayode said, “I urge my brother Governor Ayo Fayose to sheath his sword and not to leave PDP.
“Over the last few years we have fought many battles together and it was an honor to stand shoulder to shoulder with you. The final battle is about to be fought and we need you in our ranks.
