President Goodluck Jonathan visited the Winners Chapel, Ota for service today and may have thrown some epic shade at General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).
The jury is out on the intention of President Jonathan when he stated
I don’t want to talk much before I am accused of coming to Church to campaign for election. I plead with you all to keep praying for successful and peaceful election next month. There are various predictions concerning the election, but I trust God to take control of the situation. I commend Bishop Oyedepo for his commitment to the work of God and education, without education we can’t achieve much.
Some analysts are interpreting it to be a subliminal diss intended for the APC candidate whose academic credentials continue to be in question even as the campaign progresses. The four time Presidential aspirant is rumoured to not have sat for his exams after high school and he remains unable to provide compelling evidence that he has done so.
On the other hand, some are saying the statement was of no political expediency and President Jonathan was merely referring to the legacy Bishop David Oyedepo has laid in Nigerian academics, having pioneered one of the most excellent institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, Covenant University.
