President Goodluck Jonathan has nominated former Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, former Afenifere spokesman, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, Dr. Stephen Orhu and Dr. Abdul Bulama as candidates for Ministerial positions.

President Goodluck Jonathan sent their names to the Senate for approval.

Senate President, David Mark read the letter from President Jonathan seeking approval from the National Assembly for his nominees.

The letter reads, “In accordance with Section 147 subsection 2 of the 1999 Constitution   as amended, I have the honour to forward the underlisted ministerial nominees for consideration for Senate confirmation.

“Dr. Bulama, Yobe State; Dr. Oruh, Delta State; Mallam Shekarau, Kano State; and Adeyeye, Ekiti State.

“It is my hope that this exercise will receive the usual kind expeditious consideration of the distinguished members of the Senate.”

Three of the four ministerial nominees would fill the gap created by the exit of the former minister of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Elder Godsday Orubebe (Delta), the Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade (Ekiti), and Minister of State for Finance, Yerima Ngama (Yobe).
