Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi has said that the disagreement between him and President Goodluck Jonathan was based on principle because his wife Dame Patience Jonathan meddled in every Rivers State affair.
Amaechi said this after the premiere of a documentary on the Amaechi years, at the Silver Bird Galleria, Abuja.
He explained that the Commissioner of Police, Brigade Commander, Air Force Commander and Navy Commander were reporting to the First Lady.
Amaehi said “We had a disagreement in principle between me and the President. Have you seen a country where the Commissioner of Police is reporting to the wife of the President? It’s in Rivers State.
“Have you seen a country where the Brigade Commander or the Navy Commander or Air force Commander is reporting to the Wife of the President? It’s in Rivers State.”
Meanwhile Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime has said that so many states are unable to pay salaries because of dwindling federal allocation.
Chime, who spoke yesterday at a valedictory thanksgiving Mass at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu, said “Our resources are going down on a daily basis. So many states are unable to pay salaries because of dwindling federal allocations, so let’s pray that we get it right at the centre so that it will trickle down to the states.”
He however described the Governor-Elect, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as a worthy replacement who will ensure the growth of Enugu State.
