John Boyega slams Samuel Jackson over Peele’s Interracial Flick

2 Min Read

British actor John Boyega has slammed Samuel L. Jackson over his comments on the casting crew of ‘Get Out’.

Apparently, Samuel L. Jackson wasn’t impressed by the use of a black British actor to play an African American in the movie and therefore made his stand known during an interview with New York radio station, Hot 97, on Monday.

Jackson during the interview noted that the role may have been better portrayed if an American actor had been featured.

He said: “There are a lot of black British actors in these movies, I tend to wonder what [‘Get Out’] would have been with an American brother who really understands that.”

Recall that the main character in the movie ‘Get Out’, Chris, is played by London-born actor Daniel Kaluuya.

Jackson during the interview continued: “Daniel grew up in a country where they’ve been interracial dating for a hundred years.

“What would a brother from America have made of that role? Some things are universal, but everything ain’t.”

Jackson however went further to attach the casting decision to financial strains as he dislcosed that the reason behind the casting of British actors is mostly because they can be afforded cheaply.

“They’re cheaper than us, for one thing. They don’t cost as much…and they (casting agents) think they’re better trained, because they’re classically trained.”

In reaction to the claim, John Boyega who was not featured in the movie but had arned himself a major role in “Star Wars” responded by first retweeting a tweet which reads:
“Mr @SamuelLJackson emancipate yourself from mental slavery my brother.”

He thereafter proceeded to give his verdict as he tweeted: “Black brits vs African American. A stupid ass conflict we don’t have time for.”

Watch the interview below as Samuel L. Jackson discusses ‘Get Out’ at about the 25:30 mark.
