Joeboy Exits EMPAWA, Unveils Young Legend Label

2 Min Read

Afrobeats sensation Joeboy has bid farewell to the Mr Eazi-owned EMPAWA after five years of resounding success. The chart-topping artist is set to elevate his trajectory by entering into a dual deal with the global music powerhouse, Warner Music, home to industry luminaries like Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Burna Boy, Ckay, and more.

Joeboy

Under the terms of the groundbreaking deal, Joeboy not only becomes Warner Music’s latest flagship artist representing Africa but also introduces his self-owned entertainment company, Young Legend. The move underscores Joeboy’s commitment to shaping the future of the music industry on the continent.

During his tenure with EMPAWA, Joeboy achieved remarkable milestones, releasing two EPs (Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit), two albums (Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul), and a string of hit singles and collaborations. His departure comes after amassing over 2 billion cumulative streams across various digital streaming platforms.

Joeboy

As the CEO of Young Legend, Joeboy will spearhead the label’s artistic vision, while industry veteran Deola Jaiyesimi assumes the role of Head of Label, tasked with propelling emerging Afrobeats talents onto the global stage. This move mirrors the paths taken by industry heavyweights such as Olamide, Don Jazzy, and Joeboy’s former label boss, Mr. Eazi, in establishing platforms to nurture and launch new artists.
