Former Chelsea and England international Joe Cole has shared his thoughts on the upcoming Premier League showdown between Liverpool and Manchester United.
In a recent interview with Paddy Power via Metro, Cole emphasized the significance of the match as a derby and a one-off game. Despite acknowledging Manchester United’s potential to put up a strong fight, Cole predicted that Liverpool would emerge victorious with a narrow 2-1 win.
“It’s a derby and it’s a one-off game. But having said that, you can’t look past this Liverpool side,” Cole remarked. “Manchester United will turn up, make a game of it, but Liverpool will win 2-1.”
Cole also noted that while Manchester United might pose a threat on the counter-attack and manage to score a goal, they are likely to be pinned back at Anfield by the relentless pressure from the Kop.
He advised Manchester United fans to remain patient and accept the current state of affairs, suggesting that the team needs to build slowly and maturely.
The last encounter between these two Premier League giants saw Liverpool dominate Manchester United with a resounding 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.
