Job Creation: Your Govt Lies Too Much – Shehu Sani Tells Buhari

2 Min Read
Shehu Sani

The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has attacked the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari for lying over job gains and wealth creation under its administration.

The senator made this known in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday morning.

According to him, the recent figures of job losses as released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has made a lie of all the claims made by Buhari’s government officials over job and wealth creation.

He added that contrary to claims of the officials, unemployment and poverty are on the rise.

Sani said, “The recent figures on job losses coming from the NBS contradicts the claims consistently made by Government officials on the surge in job creation or wealth creation. The reality now is that unemployment and poverty are on the rise. Enough of this disinformation and falsification.”

According to the employment report last released by the NBS in the last quarter of 2017, “The number of unemployed people within the labour force who are unemployed or underemployed increased from 13.6 million and 17.7 million respectively in Q2 2017 to 15.9 million and 18.0 million in Q3 2017.”

The Statistician General of the Federation, Dr Yemi Kale, noted on November 13 that the bureau has not released the unemployment rate for 2018 due to low funding, not due to political interference as is being claimed in certain quarters.
