The Jigawa Government has approved the release of N35 million as part payment of its counterpart funding for Fadama III additional project for rice and sorghum value chain farming in the state.
Malam Wada’u Sulaiman, the Spokesperson, Ministry of Agriculture, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Dutse.
Sulaiman said that the the National Fadama Development office, has approved the release of part payment of N51.18 million for the development of 490 hectares of rice and 970 hectares of sorghum in the state.
He added that 148 farmers’ associations were registered for rice and sorghum farming, and already 19 of the associations had cultivated 190 hectares of rice in Kiri-Kasamma and Kazaure local government areas.
According to him, the Fadama III programme is being conducted in 21 local government areas of the state. (NAN)
