Jega Queries South Resident Electoral Commissioners On Failure To Create Additional 30,000 Additional Polling Units

The Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega has issued out a query to Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs in the south because of their failure to submit reports on the allocation of 30,000 Polling Units.

The query read “at the commission meeting, it was observed that you have refused, failed or neglected to comply with the above directive within the deadline given or since then, the commission has directed that you explain, in writing , the reasons for your conduct within seven days.”

The creation of additional 30,000 Polling Units has reportedly caused a regional division in the commission.
The 30,000 additional polling units were distributed as follows: North West-7,906; North East- 5, 291; North Central-6,318; South East-1, 167; South West- 4, 160 and South-South-3,087. The allocation of the 30,000 had seen the North getting 21,615 and the South, 8,412.
