End SARS: Janet Jackson Takes Stand Against Police Brutality In Nigeria

2 Min Read

Veteran pop star, Janet Jackson, sent a lengthy message on her social media account to lend her support to the ongoing #EndSARS protest. The singer noted that she stands with the Nigerian youths whom she describes as ‘young, brave, future leaders.’

In her tweets, she noted that she loves and prays for the most populous black nation in the world.

Jackson said, “To the powerful people of Nigeria, especially to the young, brave, future leaders who have stood fearlessly in the face of corruption and greed, I stand with you.

“For all those who refuse to remain chained to another generation of suffering, I pray to God for your justice and liberation. Enough is truly enough. Nigeria is a land of love, beauty, culture, and pride but those who have chosen to murder and brutalise have brought shame to this great nation. Your time is up.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Ikoyi maximum correctional facility in Lagos state was attacked by suspected hoodlums.

The hoodlums set some buildings ablaze in a bid to free inmates of the facility.

However, prison wardens called for help from the Nigeria Army and Nigeria Police Force.

Lagos state government who confirmed the incident disclosed security operatives were standing guard to repel attack on the prison facility.

This is coming days after prisoners escaped from Oko prison facility in Benin, Edo state.

Although Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki on Wednesday threatened prisoners to return or face the consequences, there are still no reports on the whereabouts of the escaped convicts.
